Halmstad Marinfestival & Baltic Sail, 29 July - 1 August

This summer is time for the sixth annual Halmstad Marinfestival. The festival has a special place in people´s hearts, both residents and visitors alike and every year the quayside fills with lots of people and the weather is fine. Halmstad Marinfestival gives summertime Halmstad a wonderful party atmosphere.
Halmstad Marinfestival features impressive sailing ships from a bygone age along with music, children´s activities, market, funfair and maritime exhibitions on the bustling Tullkammarkajen quayside.

This year´s festival is also a warm up for Halmstad´s biggest event ever, The Tall Ships Races 2011.

Looking forward to seeing you at Halmstad Marinefestival 2010!

Programme

Halmstad Marinfestival has a varied programme of events. Visit exhibitions, listen to music, dine out, watch shows, take part in competitions and the RIX FM Festival, happenings and lots besides.

The Halmstad Marinfestival has a number of activity areas and stages. We´re working to get the most varied programme possible. Every year we single out a group of people we want to spend more time with, and this year it´s young people´s turn!

And remember, admission is free throughout the festival area!

Festival areas

  • Tullkammarkajen
  • Main stage
  • Marine stage
  • Picassoparken

Artist performances

There will be a lot of artists performing on the festival´s two stages. Top Swedish artists will appear on the main stage. Here you´ll see Amanda Jenssen, Mikael Wiehe, Melissa Horn and Mustasch to name a few and the star-studded RIX FM Festival is responsible for Sunday´s major finale.

The festival´s house band will also invite its musical friends onto the Marine stage for a special Halmstad evening.

Ships & Sea cruises

Around 20 impressive sailing ships will visit the festival this year. Visitors will be able to step onboard and choose either to stay ashore or go on a three-hour cruise around the Kattegatt. Cast off and take a cruise along the coast with a group of friends or family and feel the breeze of the Kattegatt from the upper deck. Or just enjoy the marine feeling by stepping onboard a ship on the quayside for a while.

This year we´re increasing the opportunities of taking sea cruises — we´re dropping the price for adults and children under 16 will travel free as long as an adult accompanies them. Tickets can be bought onlinelänk till annan webbplats, at the tourist office or at the quayside during festival days.
The sea cruises take around 3 hours.

Baltic Sail

Halmstad Marinfestival is part of the Baltic Sail network. Hundreds of thousands of visitors gather every year at the different marine festivals. Around 300 sailing ships sail to the various cities. The aim of the regatta is to uphold maritime traditions of the large sailing ships in the Baltic region and meanwhile create a tourist attraction with traditional sailing vessels.

About the organization

Baltic Sail  started in 1996 and today consists of six cities in four countries. In July and August every year you will see vessels cruising between Klaipeda  (Lithuania), Gdansk  and Swinoujscie  (Poland), Karlskrona  and Halmstad (Sweden), Rostock  and Sassnitz  (Germany).
